Our Story

Imagine if your kitchen could talk…all the stories it could tell. Stories of your firsts, your lasts. Your laughter and joy. Your sorrow and tears. How your children have grown. How you have become the person and the family you are today.

Our kitchen story starts with James Reazor, a young Marine, back from war, newly married; sweeping floors in a cabinet shop near Reading, PA. He quickly learns the trade and spends the next 15 years mastering the art of cabinet making, before deciding to go out on his own in 1984. Together, he and his wife build a custom cabinetry business that prides itself on superior craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a personal relationship with each customer.

Today, this cabinetry business is still serving Pennsylvania and the East Coast from its shop in downtown Reading, in the same historic building it has been in since it started. While the name has evolved, the exacting rigorous standards that make us the go-to shop for thousands of homeowners remain exactly the same. Fifth & Cherry Designs, run by James’ son and daughter-in-law (Tim and Tanya Reazor) continues to design and build cabinetry of the highest quality; cabinetry that will last for generations to come.

For almost 40 years, we have been designing and building custom cabinetry for kitchens, vanities, and various rooms throughout the home in our vision of quality and care. And after all these years James is still actively involved in all aspects of design and production; the shop still employs craftsmen that have been with him from the beginning. We believe in honor and integrity, and treat each customer as if they were our family. We are here to build you the kitchen of your dreams while providing guidance and recommendations that can only come from the 50+ years of experience our craftsmen have.

What we represent matters because, in a disposable society, very few items have sentimental value. The kitchen is the center of all activity. It’s where you’ll carve your first turkey, make cookies with your grandmother, teach your children to cook, laugh with your partner and cry to your best friend. The kitchen is where love, warmth, and memories live. Our kitchens are designed to keep those memories alive so every time you are in that room, you are never alone.

The truth is, time passes, and memories fade. What we leave behind is all that remains. As Marine Corps Veterans who both deployed to war (James in Vietnam; Tim, three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom), our family understands that the most precious commodity we have is time, and making memories is time well spent.
